Did You Know that the Great White Shark is a Champion Hunter….

.….and the biggest hunting fish in the ocean? For a lot of reasons, Great White Sharks are truly apex predators because they:

  • have a body with countershading where it is dark on top and white on the bottom, which makes it hard for prey to see the shark from above or below.

  • hunt in the daytime and catch a wide variety of prey.

  • have large teeth, nearly 5 cm long, shaped like triangles with serrated edges.

  • can breach completely out of the water at high speeds as they attack prey from below.

  • have six highly refined senses: electromagnetism, hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch.

  • have a stronger bite force than nearly every animal on the planet. Their bite force is only behind that of saltwater crocodiles and Mako Sharks when the Makos are larger.
