Did You Know that the Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus)….

.….may live for more than 400 years? Scientists believe that they have the longest known lifespan of all vertebrate species.

….prefers cold water near the north Atlantic near Greenland, Iceland, Canada, and Norway? It is the only shark known to survive under the polar ice to temperatures as low as 2° C.

.….is one of the largest of all sharks growing up to 6.5 meters? However, they grow very slowly by only about 0.5 cm per year.
