Did You Know that the Gulper Shark (Centrophorus granulosus)….

.….is a is a long and slender dogfish from the family Centrophoridae and averages about three feet in length?

.….has large greenish or yellowish eyes to help them see in dark and murky waters? They are found in tropical to temperate marine waters all around the world from about 200-1500 meters deep.

.….has been classified in Endangered status by the IUCN since 2019 due to heavy overfishing and low reproductive rates? Population rates have decreased from 80-95% since 1990. The sharks are of particular interest because of the quantity of liver oil, which is used to make cosmetics, medicines, and machine oil.
