Did You Know that Bluntnose Sixgill Shark (Hexanchus griseus)….
.….is recognizable because of its six gill slits compared to most shark species, which have only five gills? A member of the Hexanchidae family, they are often referred to as the Cow Shark or Sixgill Shark.
.….is found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide with a varied diet depending upon location?
.….is the largest of the sixgill and sevengill family of sharks? It is a stocky and powerful shark that averages 10-11 feet in length but can grow as large as 26 feet. It has large, comb-shaped teeth in its lower jaw. Its lateral lines are clearly visible as a pale line along the sides of its body.
