Did You Know that Sharks have an acute sense of smell….

….by using their nostrils, or nares, which are situated on the underside of the soft snout? There are two nares and each nare has two nasal openings. Unlike humans, sharks can smell with their nostrils but they cannot breathe with them.

….because about 2/3 of its total brain weight is accounted for by its olfactory lobes?

….that gives it the ability to smell small traces of blood dispersed within seawater? Sharks can smell 1 part in 10 million, which is like a pinhead-sized drop of blood in a bathtub of water.
