Shark Trivia

Did You Know that Sharks have a Sixth Sense called….

….electroreception, which detects the electrical currents that every living organism emits? It also allows the shark to hunt with precision under water.

The organs responsible for electrorception are the Ampullae of Lorenzini. The Ampullae of Lorenzini form a network that appear as thousands of dark spots on the snout.

The Ampullae of Lorenzini are modified parts of the lateral line system.
