Did You Know that Jacques-Yves Coustea wrote a book about Sharks….

.….in 1970 when he published “The Shark: Splendid Savage of the Sea,” which documented much of his research?

Jacques-Yves Cousteau was an accomplished French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, inventor, scientist, photographer, book author, and researcher who spent decades studying the seas as well as sharks. He was born in the southwest of France in 1910 and died in 1997.

Cousteau was viewed as a visionary legend in the world of ocean exploration who sailed the world’s seas in his 130-foot ship named the Calypso. His mission was to educate people and improve their perceptions about the world’s ocean environments.

A major aspect of Cousteau’s work was focused on different areas of shark research, which challenged harmful myths and instead, provided realistic science-backed facts about them. He showed that some shark species could harm humans but that most species were harmless. He also advanced research in shark tagging, migratory patterns, testing shark repellents, etc.
